It was just confirmed to me that there is in fact a brand new Macon Miracle plan that is already being implemented within the Bibb County School System.  The first day of implementation was yesterday during the "Teacher's Planning Day".  The details are very sketchy at this point, but I can confirm that on page 27 of the plan it states:

Action Step 2:

"Provide opportunites for teachers and administrators to conduct informal peer observations of classrooms using data recording devices." (Emphasis added.)

Read between the lines people!  This flatly states that teachers and administrators will have the authority to SPY on their peers, and it is sanctioned by the Superintendent of Schools!

In the past I have with tongue firmly planted on cheek, called Dr. Dallemand "Papa Doc", as a lot of people do in the system as well as they did in Rochester, but now the comparisons to former Haitian President François Duvalier are becoming more and more real if you compare his dictatorial powers.  (Duvalier was elected in a rigged election and kept his power intact by intimidation and changing the Constitution of Haiti to make him 'President For Life', a title he kept until his death in 1971.)  Our friend Dr. Dallemand is now running our school system in much of the same way.

Where does it say spy or anything that would lead one to believe that this recording would be done without the person being recorded knowing about the recording?

It says that these best practices are to be shared on the web and with other teachers and what is the best way to do that? By recording - either audio or video.

I do not see anywhere that leads me to believe that teachers will be spied upon and recorded without their knowledge!

I agree with Clay. The best teaching education I ever got was from watching other teachers. This tendency to jump to paranoid conclusions helps no one.

What is even MORE concerning is that in looking at the management plan that was posted to the bibb website, it appears 90% of the costs are redirected from current budget. You can't redirect without removing. It is the most basic insult to someone intelligence that he REFUSES to cost this plan. The few items with actual cost are so far out of line its laughable.

I wouldn't classify it as paranoia seeing as to the current regimes mindset as to the thoughts of teacher/faculty input.

I can see this as his method of gathering more intimidation fodder in order to meet his "350" teachers "leaving" the system every year. I also think it's more of a scare tactic to intimidate than to gather "teaching material".

I shall forewarn him I did Not sign consent for filming, videoing, or Further using my sons picture likeness or voice in. any manner be it video or print for training, recruitment, sales. Ignoring these wishes will result in litigation against the BOE to recoup damages and compensation.

Clay and Laura,
All staff will be told they are being taped, but it is what admin decides to do with the tape. Do you really believe that these tapes will just be used for educational purposes? Ya, right!!

While I agree with most everything you've ever posted here, on the surface, this seems harmless. Most all of the teachers I know, would welcome that because they are in the classrooms, working their hearts out trying to teach our children. That being said, with the current administration, and their deceit and underhandedness, and having seen what lies beneath their professed "transparency", I'm worry what the ulterior motive is, and I think we should be afraid, very afraid.
Parents can control whether this happens to their children. They can just not sign the media release that is sent home with the packets of forms they give to each child at the beginning of the year. If enough don't sign them, they can't video tape those children. Trust me, the teachers are very diligent about not photographing or taping any children without a signed media release.

Thats exactly why I said I didn't, and I never sign those media requests.

Whether the teacher to teacher recording is used for good purposes (training) or bad purposes (intimidation and firing) is still unknown at this time. Dallemand’s history tells me that the collecting of recorded data is probably a bad thing. But there is something real funny about this situation. Not funny ha ha but funny because it is sad. Mr. Dallemand is so secretive that he goes behind closed doors for everything. Dallemand wants no one collecting data and recording behind his closed doors for good training purposes. So one can only conclude that what goes on behind Dallemand’s closed doors is bad. Yet Dallemand is the grandmaster of the Macon Miracle and what happens behind his closed doors should be recorded for training purposes of what not to do.

I would believe that your are walking a very fine legal line when it comes to video or audio recording of teachers and students. I do know that Georgia has very strick laws when it comes to this type of recording. My fear is that with the new law firm's principle tied up with extricating Newt Gingrich from his campaign debt and an in house attorney with no experience, that the BOE hasn't properly researched this area of the law.......maybe they can get the old local firm to give them some direction? I certainly wouldn't want my childs voice or image recorded to use "however" this districts administration sees fit, would you?
